The Silverado 2500HD, a large pickup truck from Chevy, is getting updates for the 2024 model year. Most trim levels gain from a flashier interior design that appeared on the half-ton Silverado 1500 last year, along with new cabin features. However, the 2024 Chevy Silverado HD pickups have more changes than just cosmetics. Visit Stykemain Chevrolet and learn other changes to expect on the 2024 Silverado 2500 HD.
A New Transmission System With a Powerful Diesel
Chevy's heavy-duty pickups certainly benefit from a facelift and a remodeled cabin, but the Silverado 2500HD was developed for heavy tasks around Defiance, OH. The standard 6.6-liter gas V8 retains its 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque from the outgoing model. Instead of a six-speed automatic, it now couples with an Allison 10-speed automatic transmission.
The Allison 10-speed automatic is still paired with the optional Duramax diesel 6.6-liter V8, but it produces significantly more power. Updates to the combustion system, turbocharger and management architecture are responsible for the increases. These improvements are also touted to give up to 25 percent more low-end torque and improved fuel economy. Its maximum towing capacity remains at 22,500 pounds.
Upgraded Face, More Lavish Cabin
The LTZ and High-Country trim levels have new dual-projector headlights in addition to the newly designed grille and C-shaped LED lighting components. A set of 20-inch off-road tires is also now available for Fort Wayne, IN drivers in some trim levels.
Inside, the Silverado has another dashboard plan with noticeably advanced displays. The new setup includes a customizable 12.3-inch gauge cluster and a 13.4-inch touchscreen with Google Built-In. The interior also provides Van Wert, OH shoppers an updated console with a remote charger and more cupholders. A new interior color, Nightshift Blue, is only available in the High Country.
